Laurel Elementary School Celebrates Veterans

Laurel Elementary School held a breakfast celebration this morning to honor community veterans. The Johnson County Honor Guard was on site and in addition to their duties of present the Colors for the ceremony, they taught a wonder and informative class on the History of the American Flag! Students were eager to learn and answer many of the questions during the session.

Things Grandparents Need to Know

Raising grandchildren can be a tremendous challenge. 2.7 million grandparents are now raising their grandchildren. Grandparent caregivers need a support system to help them with the many tasks and challenges that they face. The Johnson County School System will be hosting its first Things Grandparents Need to Know session on December 3rd, 2018, so please make palns to attend.

Influenza vaccinations will be provided at schools

The Johnson County Health Department and the Johnson County School System have partnered to provide seasonal influenza (flu) vaccinations at your child's school. If your child is uninsured, there is no cost to you for the flu vaccine. If your child is covered by insurance, including TennCare and private insurance, the County Health Department will file a claim with the insurance plan and receive reimbursement directly from the insurance plan.

Family Access Parent Portal

Parent involvement is crucial to academic success no matter how old your child is. The Skyward Family Access Parent Portal is a tool for parents to stay informed and engaged in their child's education. The Parent Portal gives parents and guardians access to their child's attendance, grades, and missing assignments. Weekly progress reports are available as well.

New State Required Attendance Law In Effect

This newly passed law provides revisions and updates regrading school attendance, truancy, and discipline.

School Supply Lists and Information (Updated)

Parents and Guardians who are seeking school supply lists for the upcoming school year can click on the appropriate links below to obtain the School Supply Lists for each school. If there is not one listed beside the school your child will be attending, you will need to reach out to the school that their child will be attending for more information. The Johnson County Schools Central Office, and all of the district schools are in the process of transitioning to new websites so we do not have all of the data readily available at this time. The contact information for each of the schools is listed below if you need to call them.
